38 countries still criminalize same-sex relationships between consenting adults in Africa, four with death penalty.
The map was launched together with the 4th edition of the State-Sponsored Homophobia published by ILGA, the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association. The report is a collection of legislation criminalising consensual sexual acts between persons of the same sex in private over the age of consent*. Maps are available in French, English, Portuguese and Spanish.http://ilga.org/ilga/en/article/1161

Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people fought back against police harassment 41 years ago today (June 28, 1969) at New York City’s Stonewall Inn, launching the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender liberation movement. The Stonewall Rebellion (aka Stonewall Riots) became known as the first time that LGBT people rebelled against government persecution of homosexuality. It is commemorated around the world during June as LGBT Pride Month. President Barrack Obama declared June LGBT month as he set in place mechanisms that will address prejudice against LGBT – most notable the army’s ‘Do Not Ask, Do Not Tell’ - and in addition, recognizing the contribution of LGBT persons and likewise granting fundamental rights like health care to LGBT persons.

Kenya has between 139, 362 to 696,810 men who have sex with men (MSM) aged 15 years and older. These estimates are based on assumption that 29% of Kenyans are male, aged 15 years and older and that the population of Kenya is 40, 046, 566 persons. We also assume that the MSM population ranges from between 1.2% of the total male population to 6% which is considered by most to be rather liberal.
